NYC Pizza Week debuts with twenty-one slices you can only get for two weeks

NEW YORK, Sept. 8, 2026 — Twenty-one independently owned pizzerias will take part in the first NYC Pizza Week, running Sept. 20 through Oct. 4, 2026, across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Each shop is creating a Signature Slice available only during the two-week window, and customers rate each slice they eat. The event is produced by Still Hungry Hospitality LLC and grew out of NYC Pizza Crawl, the monthly event founder Andrew Young has run for nearly two years.

The lineup

The participating shops, curated over two years of NYC Pizza Crawl visits:

Manhattan

• Andrea's Pizza — East Village. Founded by Andrea Kenuti, formerly of L'industrie Pizzeria.
• Aria Nova — Greenwich Village. Named after the owner's daughter.
• Cellos Pizzeria — St. Marks Place. Recognized by 50 Top Pizza 2026 as the 14th Best Pizza Slice in the USA.
• Frico on 2nd — Upper East Side. Detroit-style, from four-time world champion pizzaiolo Jamie Culliton.
• Hots Pizza — Lower East Side. Founded by a local couple who lived in the neighborhood for over a decade and wanted to bring great pizza to the area.
• LTD Pizza & Bar — Hudson Square. Founded by industry veterans previously with Philippe Chow, Tao Group, LAVO, AVRA Madison, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and more.
• Marko's Pizzeria — Kips Bay. Local entrepreneur takes the leap with his first pizza shop.
• Paulie Gee's East Village Slice Shop — East Village. The latest outpost of the legendary Paulie Gee's Slice Shop.
• Pizza Loves Sauce — Lower East Side. One of the only 100% Halal certified pizza shops in NYC.
• Slicehaus Pizzeria — West Village. Recently received an incredible score of 8.2 from One Bite Pizza Reviews.
• Unregular Pizza — Union Square. Roman-style, from a founder who once traded pizza for anything but money during the pandemic.

Brooklyn

• Angelo's Pizza of Brooklyn — Little Haiti. NYC style pizza by a local Brooklyn couple.
• Diamond Slice — Greenpoint. A pop-up that took over a deli that stood for eighty years.
• Impasto — Clinton Hill and Park Slope. Roman-style pizza, rebuilt after a fire destroyed the original shop.
• Paulie Gee's Slice Shop Greenpoint — Greenpoint. Founded by Paul Giannone, who quit his corporate IT job at age 56 to open his first pizza shop.
• Roebling Pizza — South Williamsburg. Family-run since 1960, one of the oldest pizzerias in the city.
• Rome to Brooklyn — Greenpoint. Opened by a 20 year pizza veteran of Artichoke Pizza and Brooklyn Pizza Masters.
• Stretch Pizza — Domino Park. Founded by James Beard Award–winning chef Wylie Dufresne and Breads Bakery founder Gadi Pele. Recognized by 50 Top Pizza 2026 as the 13th Best Pizza Slice in the USA, and ranked No. 28 in the world by The Best Pizza Awards in 2026.

Queens

• Jax Pizza Joint — Long Island City. Founded by Jesse Spellman along with twins Angelo Tsoulos and Jimmy Tsoulos, who are also part of the team behind Utopia Bagels.
• Mattarello Pizzeria — Ridgewood. Roman-style pizza, founded by Fabrizio Fragola from Rome, Italy.
• Traze — Long Island City. Founded by Natalie DeSabato as a pop-up run out of a toaster oven carried on the subway.

NYC Pizza Week is a celebration of independent New York pizza shops — the counters, the corner joints, the neighborhood institutions that made this city legendary. Pizza connects every New Yorker: every neighborhood, every income level, every generation. And yet New York has never stopped to celebrate itself. No shared moment. No occasion to honor the shops, the slices and the people behind them. Until now.

The Signature Slice

The Signature Slice is the mechanism — each shop creates something that exists nowhere else and disappears when Pizza Week ends. Behind every one is a shop with a story: pop-ups that finally found a permanent home, businesses born out of the pandemic, dream projects that waited years for the right corner, first businesses from immigrant families betting everything on a storefront. Pizza Week exists to put those stories in front of the city.

How it works: Customers rate each slice they eat, and rankings use a Bayesian-adjusted scoring system — the same approach behind IMDb and Yelp ratings — so shops of every size, not just the highest-traffic spots, have a real shot at recognition. A Fan Favorite award will be announced at the close of the event.

Every slice does double duty.

A portion of every Signature Slice sold goes to Slice Out Hunger, the NYC-based nonprofit fighting food insecurity.
