Jax is a New York slice shop born out of a neighborhood the founders already knew like family. Co-owners Jesse, Angelo, and Jimmy — childhood friends, Queens born and raised — also run Utopia Bagels right across the street, one of the best bagel shops in New York. Years of watching the block, greeting the same faces, and understanding what the neighborhood needed made one thing clear: LIC was missing a real pizzeria.

So when the space across from Utopia opened up, it didn't feel like a business decision. It felt personal. It felt like coming home.

Pizza runs in the family too — recipes passed down for years, waiting for the right place to finally come alive. Jesse, Angelo, and Jimmy built Jax the way they've built everything else together: side by side, leaning on years of friendship and a shared instinct for what makes a neighborhood spot actually work. That instinct came from Utopia, where they'd already learned what it means to become part of a block's daily rhythm — not just a business on the corner, but a place people plan their day around.

Jax was designed to hold that same kind of flexibility. Walk in for a quick slice on your way somewhere else, or settle in for a full meal — a hero, a salad, dessert, a glass of wine. The space is casual and unpretentious, built for regulars who want to grab a slice, talk to the team, and feel at home.

Still a young shop, Jax's menu is far from finished. New specials get added regularly, and most of them start the same way — by listening. The team pays close attention to what customers order again and again, what they get excited about, and what they keep asking for. The goal isn't to reinvent New York pizza; it's to stay rooted in the classics while letting the menu evolve naturally, the same way the neighborhood itself keeps evolving.
