Slicehaus wins Best Slice as the first NYC Pizza Week serves 4,802 slices
Twenty-one independent pizzerias across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens served Signature Slices over two weeks, putting $29,367 directly into independent shops and raising $480.20 for Slice Out Hunger.
NEW YORK, Oct. 19, 2026 — New Yorkers ate at least 4,802 Signature Slices during NYC Pizza Week Edition 01, putting $29,367 directly into independently owned pizzerias across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Twenty-one shops took part, each creating a slice available only during the two-week window, and the event raised $480.20 for Slice Out Hunger, the NYC-based nonprofit fighting food insecurity. Sales figures reflect the 20 shops that reported totals.
Jax Pizza Joint in Long Island City sold the most Signature Slices of any shop, moving 924 over the two weeks — nearly one in five slices sold across the event. Their slice, The Juan, layered pepperoni, vodka sauce, Calabrian chili oil and chopped cherry peppers under aged parmesan.
Slicehaus Pizzeria in the West Village won Best Slice of NYC Pizza Week, as rated by customers, for a slice of smoked mozzarella, blistered cherry tomatoes and black garlic confit. Ratings were scored on a Bayesian-adjusted system rather than raw averages, so the shops with the most foot traffic held no advantage over smaller counters.
"I'm very excited. It was our first time participating, and it was the first NYC Pizza Week. This means a lot to me." Agostino Cangiano, Co-owner, Slicehaus Pizzeria
Every slice gave back
Every Signature Slice sold during Pizza Week carried a ten-cent donation to Slice Out Hunger, the NYC nonprofit that has used pizza to fight food insecurity in the city since 2009. Across 4,802 slices, the two weeks raised $480.20.
